A typical style within the Snowdonia National Park
We have carried out many residential projects within the Snowdonia National Park over the years, and this project is very typical of a style that has evolved over time out of an understanding of the sensitive landscape settings and buildings that we’ve encountered, as well as our experiences of dealing with the planning authority and the constraints of their policies.
Along with a refurbishment of the existing dwelling, this was a large 2 storey extension that replaced a conservatory structure, with a fully glazed gable end and bespoke timber bifolding doors that opens up the house to sweeping views down the Dwyryd river valley from Maentwrog.
Although the overall form is traditional in keeping with the existing dwelling, the all-timber frame, cladding and windows and doors give it a rich material expression which helps it to stand out.
